PROCUREMENTLAW.

The Swiss Federal Parliament unanimously approved the total revision of the Federal Law on Public Procurement (BöB) on June 21, 2019. At the same time, the Parliament also unanimously adopted the revised WTO Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA 2012). The revised law will enter into force on January 1, 2021.

One of the main concerns of the revision was to standardize the heterogeneous procurement regulations of the federal government and the cantons. This is intended to create more legal certainty and additionally increase user-friendliness for the economy. Another important concern of the revised law is the paradigm shift from today's price-based model towards sustainability and quality competition. Public procurement is already an important factor in the Swiss economy today. However, its importance will continue to grow strongly. In this context, there is talk of a market access potential of 80 to 100 billion USD per year.

Public procurement law is relevant for all companies that directly or indirectly provide services to public institutions and entities.

BEELEGAL has the relevant expertise and know-how to advise public entities on the demand side as well as private companies on the supply side. The management of this legal area is the responsibility of attorney-at-law Lukas Rich, partner at BEELEGAL from September 1, 2020.

In the 1st quarter of 2021, BEELEGAL is planning a short seminar on the subject of the revised public procurement law at its office in Brugg. Depending on the development of the corona situation, the event will be held either as a BEESAFE live event or as a hybrid event with a limited audience and parallel video seminar transmission. With the BEESAFE format, important information can be conveyed within a short time and valuable business contacts may be established and deepened. A separate invitation will follow at a later date.
